This larger sensor gives you greater control over depth of field and also retains quality when shooting indoors or when the night comes, letting you shoot wherever and whenever the need arises.

Video First

Despite the similarity to the R50 in name and appearance, this camera is geared mainly towards those creating video. It doesn't feature a viewfinder, as this would not typically be used for composing video, which is where the vari-angle rear LCD screen comes into play, enabling fuss-free composition of your shots. Should there be an instance where you would prefer a still image, the R50 V does have the facility to create 24-megapixel still images.

Take It Anywhere

Weighing in at under 600g with small RF-S zoom lenses attached, and with a small frame, the R50 V is suitable for taking on all of your trips. It will fit in most bags without the need to carry extra heft, and is light in the hand enabling all-day carry without much intrusion or effort.

Easy Operation

If you're in front of the camera, the R50 V makes it easy to compose shots that put you at the centre. It's vari-angle screen means that you're able to frame your shot with minimal effort, and a record button on the front makes it easy to get rolling, without the hassle of searching for the record button on the back. It also features a tally lamp on the front, so you'll know when the camera is recording.

Creation For All Platforms

In the age where vertical viewing on smartphones is becoming ever-more common, the R50 V features a tripod thread in the traditional spot on the bottom but also on the side, enabling easy portrait attachment without the need for further accessories such as L-brackets. It also rotates your screen display to a portrait orientation to make operation easier and to deliver a greater experience when recording for modern social platforms such as TikTok, Reels, YouTube Shorts & more. For those of you that showcase products or produce reviews etc, Product Mode makes sure that focus stays on the product in question, giving your viewers the best possible version of it on-screen. If livestreaming is your thing, the R50 V also facilitates this, either wired via USB or HDMI, or wirelessly via the Camera Connect app.

Choose Your Subject

Whilst the R50 V offers eye-detection autofocus, enabling optimum focussing when a person is in the frame, you can register priority subjects for the camera to stick to. This is useful in busy environments such as cities where people may walk through your frame and in front of your intended subject. Fear no longer, as registering a priority subject will make the camera keep focus on them, even if an object does come between them and camera, making your footage look more professional and making sure that focus doesn't move away from where you want it.

Fuss-Free Audio

The R50 V features a customisable in-built microphone, which enables alteration of the audio levels, wind filter, noise reduction and more, giving high-quality audio without the need for external mics or other audio accessories. It does also allow the use of external microphones via the 3.5mm jack port or a Canon microphone via the hotshoe on the top of the camera. It also supports the use of XLR adapters, should the need arise.

Canon RF-S 14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ (Power Zoom) Lens

This lens is geared to work seamlessly with the R50 V, featuring a power zoom (PZ) function which lets you zoom via the camera - much like you would with a compact fixed-lens camera. With the APS-C crop factor this lens has an equivalent focal length approximate to 21-45mm on full-frame, meaning it gives you a wide angle to mid/standard length, delivering a wide view up to that similar to what we see through our own eyes.. It zooms smoothly, eliminating shaky movements and also zooms internally, making it ideal when using a gimbal due to no change is shape or weight distribution when zoomed. It's perfect for travel being compact and weighing only 181g.
